Bassist TONY FRANKLIN Records With TRAVERS & APPICE, Jams With IRON MAIDEN's MCBRAIN
February 2, 2005Bassist extraordinaire Tony Franklin (WHITESNAKE, THE FIRM, BLUE MURDER) has recorded seven tracks for the upcoming, as-yet-untitled album from guitarist Pat Travers and drummer Carmine Appice. "Everything was recorded live in the same room (rare these days!)," Franklin writes on his web site. "We recorded a number of favorites from the live set, including 'Boom Boom, Out Go The Lights' (Travers),'Snorting Whiskey' (Travers),'Crash and Burn' (Travers),'Evil' (CACTUS),'Livin' Alone' (BBA) and more... I believe Chuck Wright will be playing on the remaining tracks. Should be a killer album."
In other news, Franklin recently played at Fret Fest with Pat Travers at Loffler's in Anaheim. "We were also joined onstage by Nicko McBrain (IRON MAIDEN's drummer — and fellow Brit!),Brad Gillis (NIGHT RANGER),and Alex Ligertwood (SANTANA)," Franklin writes on his web site. "We rocked the house with some classic Pat Travers tunes, 'Boom Boom, Out Go The Lights', 'Snorting Whiskey', and 'I Don't Care' from the recent TRAVERS & APPICE album, as well as some new takes on some classic blues tunes. Alex Ligertwood sang 'Black Magic Woman'."
Fret Fest directly benefits the "Kids Rock Free" program, which is part of the Fender Center for the Performing Arts free educational program.
